2009-2010 HOLIDAY SHUTDOWN SCHEDULE
AND PAYROLL INSTRUCTIONS
Grand Rapids Community College will be closed between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Timesheets for the January 8 pay date are due to payroll by noon December 21. The schedule for December 2009 and January 2010 is as follows:
· 12/24/09 Variable ½ day & ½ day Holiday before Christmas Day (Paid holiday)
· 12/25/09 Christmas Day (Paid holiday)
· 12/28/09 Shutdown Day *(See below)
· 12/29/09 Shutdown Day (Paid shutdown day)
· 12/30/09 Shutdown Day (Paid shutdown day)
· 12/31/09 Variable ½ day & ½ day Holiday before New Year’s Day (Paid holiday)
· 01/01/10 New Year’s Day (Paid holiday)
To be eligible for the holiday shutdown, employees must be required to work during the scheduled shutdown period as part of his/her regular work week/year.
How to Report Time on Paid Holidays/Shutdown:
For all employees filling out a timesheet, report your hours for the paid holidays and shutdown days in the “Holiday” column.
*How to Report Time on December 28th:
To receive payment for December 28th, you must report hours as vacation, personal business, or comp time. NOTE: Only eligible non-exempt employees are authorized to use comp time.
· Employees will not be allowed to use sick time for this day.
· Eligible employees may also elect to take an unpaid day on 12/28. You may either report “unpaid”, or leave the box blank on your timesheet. Note: If you do not report hours using a paid absence code on 12/28, payroll will assume you want an “unpaid” day. Your paycheck will be docked accordingly.
· Employees with approved VTO time may report hours in the “other” column using “VTH” for hourly employees and “VTS” for salaried employees.
Normal VTO provisions apply.
