Deans List

The Dean’s List is complied for the fall and winter semesters. Full-time and part-time students in good academic standing carrying six or more credit hours and earning a minimum 3.3 GPA (B+) are eligible. Grades of E or I disqualify students.


Delta Pi Alpha Honor Recognition

The Delta Pi Alpha Honor Recognition honors those students graduating with superior scholastic achievement. Recipients are selected from the top five (5) percent of the graduating class for the 2009-2010 academic year. To be considered for the honor, students must file a graduation audit by the second Friday in February of the graduation year, and complete graduation requirements by the end of summer session 2010. Letter grades WF, X, N, I, E on the student transcript on this date will disqualify students. For more information, contact the Dean of Student Affairs Office at (616) 234-3925.

Requirements

I. Audit records of student who will graduate with an Associate Degree in the fall, winter or summer semester of current academic year from Grand Rapids Community College. Recipients of the Delta Pi Alpha award represent the top five (5%) of the current graduating class.

Identify top five (5) percent of students receiving degrees and meeting these criteria:

  1. Student must have filed a Graduation Audit form with the Registrar’s Office by the second Friday in February of the graduation year to be considered for Delta Pi Alpha.
  2. Student must have earned 50 percent or more of their credit hours at Grand Rapids Community College for the Associate Degree and must be graded for at least 30 credits at GRCC by the second Friday in February to be considered.
  3. Credits earned from CLEP, PEP, Challenge Exam and K-MAP are considered GRCC credits.
  4. The grades on the student's transcript record as of the second Friday in February will be used to determine his/her eligibility.
  5. Students must be enrolled at Grand Rapids Community College during the academic year he/she is considered for Delta Pi Alpha.
  6. Students must have no X, N, I, E or WF grades on the GRCC record. A failing grade on the transcript will disqualify students from consideration for Delta Pi Alpha.
  7. There is no time limit in which the degree must be earned and years of attendance do not have to be consecutive.
  8. There is no minimal requirement for the number of credit hours carried each semester -- fall, winter or summer -- all sessions are counted.

II. The Arthur Andrews Cup will be awarded to the Delta Pi Alpha student with the highest cumulative grade point average and the greatest number of honor points as of the second Friday in February of the commencement year.
