Ray McGovern is a 27-year veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency who is now an activist, co-founder of the Veterans Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, and author. At the invitation of the Social Sciences Department, he spoke to an overflowing lecture hall Thursday afternoon about the current state of the CIA and about issues ranging from the Geneva Conventions to torture and extraordinary rendition. McGovern is perhaps best known for peppering former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld with questions about the administration's claims of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq during an appearance in Atlanta, GA in May of 2006.
