FACULTY

Curriculum Service Learning
Curriculum ASL involves a faculty determined commitment to a community partner. Curriculum ASL is specifically tied to one or more course and general learner outcomes and is officially noted on student transcripts.

Curriculum ASL includes the following criteria:

  • Serves identified community needs
  • Facilitates understanding of course and general learner outcomes through application of material, discovery learning and tests of goodness of fit
  • Involves reflection and extraction of meaning
  • Taught by ASL approved faculty
  • Completion of 15-25 hours of service

  • ASL Faculty Approval
Faculty desiring to use curriculum ASL as an instructional methodology must complete one of two faculty approval options. Faculty approval is a one time process. Once approved, faculty may teach ASL designated courses or may chose to use curriculum ASL in any section of a course being taught. Curriculum ASL provides students with an official ASL transcript endorsement. “See Flowchart.”

    ASL Course Approval
Courses requiring an academic service learning component as an inherent part of the course description and thereby requiring the service component of all course sections are eligible to receive formal designation as an ASL approved course. These courses are then designated as ASL Courses in the Catalog Description. These sections will also be noted in the schedule of classes. -link here to process.
