2008 GRCC Apple Pie Bake Off

We are looking for the Best Homemade Apple Pie at GRCC. So line up your measuring cups, peel those apples, roll out that crust and show us what you and your pie are made of!
Information & Guidelines
- Open to any GRCC faculty, staff or student
- Pies must include at least 60% apples in the filling and have a bottom crust
- The entire pie must be submitted for judging in a 9 pie pan
- Pies must be delivered to Rooms 118/120 ATC between 10 a.m. and noon on contest day
- Official judging will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. - you can come and watch this year.
- Pies will be judged on a 1 to 5 ranking scale with 5 being highest in each of the following areas: flavor, filling (consistency, doneness, moistness, & flavor), crust (color, flavor, texture, & doneness), overall appearance, & creativity.
- GRCC employees will have the opportunity to judge pies on their appearance. The winner of this category will receive a trophy.
- Winners will be announced and prizes awarded in Rooms 118/120 ATC at 2:15 p.m. on contest day by Interim President Mulder
First Prize: Traveling Apple Award (custom made by Ron Stein, GRCC Pottery Professor) & dinner for 2 at the Heritage Restaurant
Second Runner Up: Trophy & Lunch for 2 at the Heritage Restaurant
Third Runner Up: Trophy & Lunch for 4 at Art & Bev's
People's Choice Award: Trophy
