GRCC AND SUPPORT STAFF UNION SETTLE CONTRACT
July 28, 2008 Grand Rapids, MI - Grand Rapids Community College and its Educational Support Professionals (ESP) association have reached a tentative agreement which was approved today by GRCC’s Board of Trustees. The ESP employee group is made up of 86 office/clerical staff.
Salary schedule increases are scheduled for the next three years at the rate of 2.25% for the 08/09 fiscal year, and 2% for the following two years. “We believe we have a fair contract for our members,” said Misty McClure, President for ESP.
“The ESP and college negotiators worked collaboratively to address the priorities identified by ESP membership and we are very pleased with the contract,” said Vice President of Organizational Development, Cynthia Springer.
Interim President Anne Mulder and the College’s seven-member Board of Trustees praised both negotiating teams for reaching this settlement.
GRCC provides education for approximately 26,000 credit and non-credit students each year. The College’s mission, enabled by its open door policy, is to provide learning opportunities to anyone who seeks higher education.
