GRCC’S RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM
RECEIVES MAXIMUM ACCREDITATION
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich – The Radiologic Technology program at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) received the highest possible acknowledgement from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). This evaluation will accredit the program for the next eight years which is a commendation granted to less than 15% of the programs in the nation.
The evaluation process took two years, and is based on 11 standards that rate program goals through self study and peer- and self-evaluation. Program Director John Godisak remarked that “the accreditation is of particular importance to assure the maintenance of high standards of care expected of Radiologic Technologists in the medical community.”
The Radiologic Technology Program at GRCC is the only accredited associate degree program in the Grand Rapids area, and has maintained continuous JRCERT accreditation since the program was established in 1972. “This accreditation will give a great sense of confidence in the quality of our program to the over 60 students we have enrolled,” said Godisak.
GRCC’s Radiologic Technology program is staffed by Clinical Coordinator Michael Kasperlik and two adjunct faculty; Deborah Nordman and Randy Lee. Students receive instruction from designated clinical instructors at clinical sites such as the Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus, Metropolitan Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, Holland Community Hospital, North Ottawa Community Hospital in Grand Haven, and Hackley Hospital in Muskegon.
JRCERT is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as the accrediting body for this field of study. Their accreditation offers an institution significant value by providing peer evaluation and assuring the public of quality professional education in radiological sciences.
