TEAM UP FOR WOMEN’S CONFERENCE
November 26, 2003; Grand Rapids, MI - The Women’s Resource Center, an advocate for women that provides employment preparation and career guidance in West Michigan, has joined forces with Grand Rapids Community College to offer “The Nontraditional Occupations for Women Conference” on Tuesday, December 2.
The conference is an effort to educate women about career opportunities such as skilled trades, public safety and technology, careers that can provide women with higher wages than many “traditional” career paths for women. A panel of women from various careers will offer advice and recommendations for attendees who seek these alternative opportunities in the workforce.
The Conference will be held in the Applied Technology Center on GRCC’s campus (Ransom Ave @ Fountain St.) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning with registration time followed by opening remarks at 6:00 p.m.
Grand Rapids Community College, established in 1914, offers both liberal arts and workforce development degrees, classes and workshops. Student enrollment on the urban campus for both credit and non‑credit courses averages 25,000 per year.
