Getting your Username and Password

Off Campus

You can use this link to get your College Network Login ID and your original password. http://www.grcc.edu/cwis/lookup/

On Campus

At the Novell Login Prompt use the following information

  • Username: Lookup
  • Password: [Blank]

How to get your Student ID Number

Your Student ID number is NOT your Social Security Number.

For the protection of the student the college is asking that you do the following to get your Student ID number.

  1. Check any paperwork you have from the college. Your student ID number will be listed somewhere amongst your admission paperwork- a class schedule or tuition receipt. It is included on most documents sent to you by the college.
  2. If you have a student ID that was issued during the last 4 years- take a look at it. Your student ID should be on it.
  3. Stop in to the Enrollment Center on campus with a photo ID (Driver's License or Student ID preferred). The enrollment center is located on the first floor of the Main Building- next to the elevators. You may get your Student ID Number from the Enrollment Center.
  4. Call (616) 234-4000 and ask for the Enrollment Center. The STUDENT must call the enrollment center- not another party.
  5. Send a letter to the college:

Include the following information in your letter:

  • Yor Request: Please send my student ID number
  • Your Name
  • Your Date of Birth
  • Your Signature

Your Student ID Number will be mailed to the address we have on record for you. If your address has changed- please contact the Cashier's Office first to have your address updated. (616) 234-4020.

Creation and Activation of Blackboard accounts
    • We create accounts 85 days before the start of the semester.
      - - Existing student accounts from previous semesters - have already been created
    • We activate your account within 2 hours of registration

Once your account has been created and activated - you may begin to use it.

How to Bookmark Blackboard

We prefer you use the College Homepage to access Blackboard - but for those that those that really want to bookmark the page:

  1. Bookmark the login page for Bb
  2. Right-mouse click the bookmark/favorite link for Blackboard
    • Properties: Modify the Location or URL to read http://bb.grcc.edu

How to modify the layout of your myBB page

Click the Modify Layout button found near the top right hand side of the MyBb page.

Modify Layout: Allows you to choose the location and colors for the modules

How to modify the content of your myBB page

Click the Modify Content button found near the top right hand side of the MyBb page.

Modify Content: Allows you to add and remove modules that appear in your myBB page.

Choose from a variety of Categories and Topics such as:

  • News
  • Search Engines
  • Weather Links
  • And more ...

How to change your password

    1. Goto: http://www.grcc.edu/gmailFAQ#password
    2. Follow the listed instructions
    3. You will then have a new password

Test or Quiz Lock-out

Only instructors have the ability to unlock a test or quiz.

Security Settings for Internet Explorer

We believe this is related to security settings in Internet Explorer. We have not confirmed the specifics.

Here are some things you can try

  • Set grcc.edu as a trusted site Video
    1. Tools - Internet Options
    2. Security - Trusted Sites
    3. Uncheck - Require server verification
    4. Enter *.grcc.edu
    5. Click ADD
    6. Click OK
  • Allow GRCC cookies
    1. Tools - Internet Options
    2. Privacy
    3. Make sure privacy does not Block all Cookies
      • Recommend Medium Setting
    4. Click Sites
    5. Enter *.grcc.edu
    6. Click Allow
    7. Click OK
  • Download and install Mozilla Firefox

Blackboard Class Module Visibility

If you signed up for classes and paid tuition - you are enrolled.

  • Blackboard module visibility is controlled by the instructor
  • Most instructors do not activate their modules until the first day of class

If your instructor indicates the module should be available:

  1. Verify your enrollment through the Online Student Center.
  2. Call the Student Technology Help Desk (616) 234-3123
