Traditional Class Schedule
Open Entry / Open Exit (OE/OE) Class Schedule
(What are Open Entry / Open Exit Classes?)
Open Entry/Open Exit courses are:
- Competency based.
- Self-paced and self-directed.
- Taught with instructors who serve as resources to assist students in
learning.
- Delivered through a variety of mediums (CD-ROM, interactive learning,
videos, textbooks, and small group projects).
Each traditional college course is broken into specific skill sets to
allow students the flexibility to customize their training. Gaining these
skills will generate college credit toward a certificate, an
apprenticeship, or an associates degree. For example:
The traditional college course MN 119 (Introductory Machine Operations
- 4 credits) will be broken into four 1-credit classes or skill sets:
1. MN 119A Introduction to Machine Shop
2. MN 119B Machine Tool Operation
3. MN 119C Machine Tool Operation 2
4. MN 119D CNC Application
When to
Enroll in an Open Entry/Open Exit Classes
Because Open Entry/Open Exit classes are self-paced and self-directed,
students can sign up to begin course work at any time. Students can sign
up as late as Thursday to begin classes the following week.
For each class, a student is given a student learning agreement which
outlines for them the requirements and time necessary to complete the
class. When a module is completed, the student can sign up for the next
one scheduled in the program.
