Janice L. Maggini was elected to the Board of Trustees in February 1991. Her fourth term expires in June 2011. She has served as Trustee Director to the Michigan Community College Association since 1992 and was elected to serve as Chairperson of the MCCA Executive Council in 2003. Mrs. Maggini was elected GRCC Board Chairperson in July 2003. She served as Policy Governance Liaison from 1997 to 2001. She chaired or served on the Ad Hoc Committee for Evaluation of the President numerous times from 1992-2007 and served as Diversity Activities Liaison for the past four years. Mrs. Maggini earned an Associate degree from Grand Rapids Junior College, and her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees at Michigan State University. She completed postgraduate work at Western Michigan University and Michigan State University. Mrs. Maggini retired from her position of Assistant Principal at Jackson Park Middle School in Wyoming Public Schools in June 1997. She was active in the “School Improvement” process in her district where she served on several committees.
For her work and accomplishments in education, the Wyoming Education
Association named her the 1990 Junior High Teacher of the Year. In 2000, she
was named one of Ten Outstanding Women of Wyoming. In 2005, Jan was honored
as the alumni recipient of the GRCC Salute to Women Award. Jan and her
husband Frank have three children and eleven grandchildren. |
