Richard P. Ryskamp, M.D. Richard Ryskamp was elected to the Board in May 2009. He is a practicing physician who in recent years has been active in teaching. He serves part-time on the faculty of Michigan State University as clinical assistant professor in the College of Human Medicine. He also has been teaching part-time at his sons' high school. He grew up in Pennsylvania and attended Lehigh University with National Merit and Army ROTC scholarships, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester, New York. He came to Grand Rapids in 1983 and completed a three-year medical residency at Blodgett and St. Mary's Hospitals. He then served four years in the US Army Medical Corps in Germany, honorably discharged with the rank of Major. He completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at St. Louis University in Missouri before returning to Kent County in 1997. He is an attending physician at St. Mary's Health Care and has served there on numerous committees and as medical director of the Critical Care Unit.
He and his wife Annemarieke have two teenage sons. |
