Richard W. Verburg (Rich or Rick) Mr. Richard W. Verburg was first elected to the Board of Trustees of Grand Rapids Community College in June of 1997. Richard was re-elected in June of 2003 and again in June of 2009. Rick currently serves as Secretary of the Board. He is also the appointed Board Liaison to the Strategy Team. Mr. Verburg is a retiree of General Motors. He is past chairperson of United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 730 Citizenship and Legislative Committee. Rick is a graduate of Aquinas College. Mr. Verburg is a member of St. Pius X Church where he assists as a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister. He is active in Keryx Prison Ministry of Ionia, Michigan. Rick and his wife, Christine, have four children, two of whom are GRCC Alumni. They also have three grandchildren. Richard is honored to serve on the Board of Trustees because GRCC is attuned to the future, and he knows that it is a place where possibilities can become reality. |
