RAIDER CARD CONTINUES TO EXPAND ACROSS GRCC
Phase II Streamlining Student Purchases on Campus
January 13, 2005, Grand Rapids, MI – Grand Rapids Community
College’s Raider Card, implemented this fall to better manage campus services is
now in Phase II. The streamlining of on-campus machines and vendors within a
debit system now allows for quicker, simpler purchases by students and staff
that don’t want to carry cash.
“This service has been implemented in almost every building on campus with a
large rate of success,” said GRCC Student Activities Director Eric Mullen. “The
Raider Card has allotted students easier access to parking and is now proving to
be a valuable convenience to several campus services as Phase II continues.”
As a part of Phase II the Raider Card system is now accessible on campus in the
Raider Grille, the Quiet Café, Subway and several vending machines around
campus. Installation at GRCC’s Heritage Restaurant, Art and Bev’s Café and
bookstore is slated for this summer. Implementation will also continue into the
2005/2006 school year allowing for Quick Copy printing services, Financial Aid,
admittance to the Gerald R. Ford Fieldhouse Health Club and even payroll options
for GRCC employees.
“The card is a readily available service to students 24/7,” Mullen said. “They
have more control and access through our automated Cash 2 Card machines and
on-line card office. The adaptation from the old service to the Raider Card has
been efficient and cost effective for the college.”
Grand Rapids Community College, established in 1914, offers both liberal arts
and workforce development degrees, classes and workshops. Student enrollment on
the urban campus for both credit and non-credit courses averages 25,000 per
year.
