10% Enrollment Growth at GRCC
Over 1,500 more students enrolled at GRCC this fall, with the headcount rising 10.1 percent from last fall. Contact hours increased 12.0 percent and credit hours increased by 11.9 percent; lecture sections totaled 2,140, up from 1,927 last fall and 1,435 in Fall 1999 (a 49% increase). The market share of GRCC students compared to the Kent County workforce increased to 41.8 per 1000 this year, up 10.9 since the Fall of 2004 when it was 30.9. The number of students transferring in from other colleges was 969, up from 693 in 2008. Demographic data showed marked increases in the percentage of minority populations (currently at 23.9%) and in the percentage of students 25 years of age and older (now at 33.5%).
