What’s
the Academic Advising Day?
Academic Advising Day is designed to provide
current* students access to faculty advisors and counselors, campus
resources, transfer information and more. The day is devoted to helping
students plan for their academic program as well as verify their choices they
may have already made for Summer semester.
For your convenience, the Transfer Fair is held on the same day. What’s
the College Transfer Fair?
The
College Transfer Fair
gives students the opportunity to meet with over
25 four-year colleges and universities. Schools will be stationed
throughout the ATC during Advising Day.
What do
students need to bring with them?
Students should bring their
unofficial transcript to Academic Advising Day.
This will help them and their advisor determine the courses needed.
Unofficial transcripts are available online with
the
Online Student
Center,
in person at the Student Record’s Office, and in the Counseling Center. Students
will also be able to print out their unofficial transcript in the ATC on
Academic Advising Day.
Will students
be able to register that day?
The college uses a
tiered system for registration for the fall and winter semesters.
See
the registration schedule to determine when you are eligible to schedule
for Winter 2008. If you have completed credits, you should check the
schedule as you may be eligible to register sooner. Registration begins at
7am the day you are eligible to register.
Will
students receive help with Online Student Center at Academic Advising Day?
Yes! Trained staff will guide students in the use of
the
Online Student
Center,
activating accounts and resetting passwords.
Should
students arrive before 9:00 am?
No. Advisors and counselors will be available
all day until 6:00 pm. The emphasis for this day is on advising (including
an advising “check-up” for students who have already registered) and receiving
transfer information, not on registration. There will be plenty of time for
students to get the advising and information they need.
Anything else I should know?
Evening classes and
biological science, physical science and preschool lab courses are still conducted on
Academic Advising Day.
