Monday January 24 2011 - Grand Rapids, MI - Grand Rapids Community College’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved a five-year fixed employment contract for their President. The contract for Dr. Steven Ender extends his presidency through June 30, 2016.
“We applaud President Ender’s leadership of the college the past two years during these precarious economic times,” said Margo Anderson, chairperson of GRCC’s board of trustees. “Our unanimous vote today shows our continued support of his leadership and vision.”
The extended contract contains no changes to Ender’s current compensation or benefits. The contract does allow for annual reviews of compensation and benefits during the term of the five-year agreement. Anderson acknowledged the president’s commitment to the college, and his sense of fiscal responsibility, citing his actions to donate 2% of his salary back to the college during the 2009-2010 fiscal year, and to participate in a salary freeze for the current one.
Added Anderson, “Dr. Ender has accepted the challenge of leading GRCC through a time of increased demand for services while revenues continue to decline. It is important that the community knows we have the confidence in him to preside over contract negotiations, meet our fund raising challenges and embrace the continuous change required to meet student learning needs.”
