The Grand Rapids Community College Foundation Board has announced the following officers for the 2011-12 fiscal year:
- Chairperson (Returning): Dave Custer - Founder and CEO of Custer Workplace Interiors
- Vice Chairperson: Deb Bailey - Director of Corporate Relations, Steelcase
- Treasurer: Doug Klein - President, Northern Trust
- Secretary: Larry Murphy - Partner, Varnum
According to Andy Bowne, GRCC Associate Vice President for College Advancement and Foundation Executive Director, two of the officers - Deb Bailey and Larry Murphy - are new officers and two - Dave Custer and Doug Klein - are returning officers. “Couple that with the fact that two are alumni and two are not, and that their varied backgrounds include finance, community relations, law and business…and you’ve got four officers with a unique balance of perspectives they bring to our Foundation’s leadership,” said Bowne.
The Foundation is losing one long-time board member in Glen Borre, of Counsel at Miller Johnson, who is stepping down after 15 years of service, eleven of those serving as board secretary. “Glen will be missed – not only for his expertise and knowledge of the board’s history, but for his warm and supporting manner all those years,” said returning board chair Dave Custer. “We thank him for all his years of service and wish him well.”
The new officers begin their terms in July.
