June 23, 2014 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Community College has launched a search for a new provost-executive vice president for academic and student affairs.

Gilda Gely, who started in the post in 2007, stepped down in May to become provost at Aquinas College. Patti Trepkowski, GRCC associate provost and dean of instructional support and interdisciplinary studies, is filling the position on an interim basis.

AGB Search was hired this spring to assist GRCC with filling the position. The consulting firm has already met with GRCC’s search committee and with focus groups throughout the campus. The formal job description was posted on GRCC’s website today; click here to see it.

“As GRCC prepares to celebrate its centennial, we reflect on our great past – and the many faculty and staff who have helped the college offer educational access and opportunities for 100 years. Dr. Gilda Gely was no exception, providing exemplary service to the college,” GRCC President Dr. Steven C. Ender said. “I am confident that with the assistance and input of the campus community, we will find the next capable leader to step into the role of provost to help the college forge ahead into its next century of academic excellence."

GRCC’s provost-executive vice president for academic and student affairs reports directly to the president and serves as the chief academic officer, with major responsibilities for strategic planning and guiding all aspects of teaching and learning in support of student success.

Grand Rapids Community College, established in 1914, offers opportunities for more than 30,000 students annually in degree courses, certification and training programs, workshops and personal enrichment classes. GRCC holds classes on the downtown Grand Rapids campus as well as several locations throughout Kent and Ottawa counties
