February 6, 2013 GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. -- Grand Rapids Community College's Business Department is hosting a Career Showcase on February 18 and 19. All students who attend will be included in a drawing for prizes -- including a $500 scholarship at GRCC next semester.
GRCC students are invited to explore careers through sessions hosted by Business faculty members and professionals in various business fields, including: accounting, business administration, entrepreneurship, fashion merchandising, interior design, management and supervision, marketing, and office administration. Sessions will include an overview of the program of study, degree options at GRCC, transfer options, employment opportunities, and time for students to ask questions.
The Career Showcase is all about making program connections so students can complete their degree - connections with faculty, connections with careers, and connections for success," said Fiona Hert, Dean of the School of Workforce Development. "By learning more we hope students become even more excited about their career choice - fueling their passion for the business world.”
Faculty and staff from GRCC's Counseling and Career Center will lead special sessions on transfer options, the My Degree Path program and graduation audits. All sessions, which last approximately 30 minutes, will be offered at 9 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on both days. Fashions and Interiors will be on the third floor of the Main Building and all the others will be on the second floor of Cook Hall.
Grand Rapids Community College, established in 1914, offers opportunities for over 30,000 students annually in degree courses, certification and training programs, workshops and personal enrichment classes. GRCC holds classes on the downtown Grand Rapids campus as well as several additional locations throughout Kent and Ottawa counties.
