There are many services that can help you during a challenge. Whether you need shelter, free legal aid, adoption counseling or seek an educational enrichment program, the services are right here in Grand Rapids. If you are uncertain which agency would best meet your needs, contact the United Way First Call for Help - 211 hotline for a referral or you can search online to find a referral.

Pregnancy

Alpha Women's Center - (616) 459-9955 services include free pregnancy testing, confidential counseling, and information about alternatives to abortion, STDs, and fetal development. Clothing and supplies for children 0-24 months, and maternity clothing are also available.
Housing option: Omega Maternity Home - provides safe nurturing environment where women can stay while awaiting the arrival of their babies. Licensed counselor guides them as they make life-changing decisions.

Planned Parenthood - (616) 459-3101 promotes and ensures reproductive health, responsibility and freedom.

Pregnancy Resource Center - (616) 456-6873 or toll free (877) 697-7247 provides information on abortion & adoption, pregnancy, medical care referrals, social services, foster care, housing. Services include free pregnancy tests, counseling, abstinence education, parenting and life-skills classes.

D.A. Blodget Services - (616) 451-2021 non-profit child welfare agency serving over 2,200 disadvantaged and abused children per year throughout West Michigan through various foster care, adoption, counseling and mentoring services (Big Brothers/Big Sisters).

Youth

Arbor Circle Corporation - (616) 456-7775 provides individual and family counseling, group intervention for adolescents, support and information for first time mothers, services to families with infants and children at risk of abandonment, counseling for families and individuals with life threatening illnesses, support for homeless youth (16-20), in-home early intervention program for infant and toddlers, parenting support groups, temporary shelter for youth (10-17), and many other programs.
