Construction Updates
Alternate routes should be used if possible:
- A Lyon Street Reconstruction: Lyon NE will be reconstructed by the city of GR between N. Division Street and Lafayette Street NE. Work will commence early May. Phase 1 (Division to Barclay NE) is scheduled for completion by August 8th. Phase 2 (Barclay to Lafayette NE) is scheduled for completion by September 19th. All parking areas along Lyon Street will be disrupted, closed during certain parts of the project. the city has a web page dedicated to the Lyon Street Reconstruction project here.
- B Van Andel Institute: Crescent Street, between Division and Bostwick Avenues, will remain open to one (1) lane of traffic, eastbound only (up the hill) until September 2009. Project is scheduled to be completed by January 2010.
- C Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital: Bostwick Avenue will remain open to one (1) lane of traffic, southbound only. Project is scheduled to be completed by mid-October 2010.
- D Michigan Street Development: Construction
will continue to occupy various traffic lanes throughout each phase of
construction. Completion dates for each phase are:
- 1. Cancer Center and two (2) towers, completion date is summer 2008.
- 2. Michigan State University Medical School, completion date is September 2010.
- 3. 3rd Tower, to replace existing Michigan Tower, which is still in use, completed by March 2011.
Construction Updates | June 16, 2008
The Lyon Street construction, which has begun at Division and Lyon, will be done incrementally. Phase one, which is scheduled for completion August 8, will encompass the intersection of Division and Lyon through the intersection of Bostwick and Lyon. When Phase one is complete Division and Lyon will be open, and southbound Bostwick traffic will have access to west bound Lyon. - Consumers Energy is now working on their duct bank between Division Ave. and Winchester Place. They expect to finish by June 27th.
- The water main has been installed to just west of Lafayette Ave. and the contractor anticipates tie in by the end of next week with services to properties completed by June 27th. The water main crossing in Lafayette Ave. is tentatively planned for sometime in July.
- Street lighting and AT & T should have their duct work installed up to Ransom Ave. by June 27th, and storm sewer leads/catch basins should be completed in phase 1 as well.
- The contractor plans to start pouring concrete in Lyon Ave. from Division St. through Bostwick Ave. at the end of June.
- Bostwick is closed from Lyon to Crescent
- Crescent is open to two-way traffic from Division to Bostwick
- Lyon is closed from Ransom to Division
- Ransom is open southbound across Lyon
- Lyon between Barclay and Lafayette is open to two way traffic
