Applied Technology

Today’s Applied Technology jobs are experiencing high growth, good pay and good working conditions. Our professors have years of real-world experience in their chosen fields, and are uniquely qualified to teach our courses, which focus on the application of high-tech production equipment, software and techniques to achieve quality and cost savings. They help prepare you for a successful career by taking learning out of the classroom. A lot of this hands-on instruction takes place in labs, and internships are commonly available.

The Applied Technology Department consists of three occupational areas: Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, and Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC).

The department prepares students for careers in the manufacturing and service industries. Positions held by Applied Technology graduates include electrician, industrial maintenance technician, machine repair technician or HVAC installer, fabricator or repair technician.

Transfer Pathways

While students who earn one-year certificates or two-year associate’s degrees with us are prepared to directly enter the workforce, many choose to continue their education at four-year institutions. We have a formal agreement with Ferris State University to ensure that all credits earned by our Applied Technology degree holders are transferable. We also have a Water Technology program with other community colleges, please click here for more information.  Our academic advisers are dedicated to working with students to make the transition to other schools as smooth as possible.
