This Corrections, A.A.A.S. program prepares to serve students who work in the field of corrections. The Corrections, A.A.A.S. offers two tracks for students to choose from –Sheriff’s Corrections Academy and General Corrections.
The Sheriff’s Corrections Academy track prepares students to work as corrections officers within the local jails. Once you complete the general education courses and program courses, you can then apply to the Sheriff’s Corrections Academy. Once you complete all of these components you would attain your Associate’s degree and be certified to be a Corrections Deputy.
The General Corrections track prepares students to work as corrections officers at the state level in prisons, along with areas such as community corrections, probation or parole. Once you complete the general education courses, program courses and general education track you would attain you’re associate’s degree. Courses can maybe taken in any order as long as all requirements (including prerequisite courses) are met.
Employment within the Criminal Justice field may be delayed or denied depending on a history of convictions involving felonies, misdemeanors and/or involving controlled substances.
