Bob and Aleicia Woodrick Diversity Learning Center at Grand Rapids Community College

As part of the Organizational Development unit, the Diversity Learning Center will meet the needs of the Grand Rapids Community College community by institutionalizing diversity. The Center will serve as a major source bringing people together and linking the campus community in its mission “to promote and ensure individual growth, respect for human differences and to foster an inclusive learning environment.”

The Diversity Team defines diversity as the condition of being different or having differences. The Diversity Learning Center will embrace and promote the celebration of human differences through its programs and activities.

The Diversity Learning Center will embrace and promote diversity of race, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender, political persuasion, age, national origin, weight, height, marital status, disability or status as a Vietnam Era veteran in any of its education programs and activities, including admissions and employment.

The Diversity Learning Center will serve as a resource to the College and its community by helping individuals overcome fears and ignorance, encouraging respect for differences and providing sensitivity training. The DLC is dedicated to implementing educational and cultural programs for students, staff, and community that improve campus climate, enhance employee relationships and strengthen community relations. The Diversity Learning Center will provide individuals with a safe place for collecting the knowledge and skills needed to meet the challenges and enrichment of school, work and living in a diverse and multicultural world.

Any employee or student with concerns, please contact carnold@grcc.edu or Labor Relations at (616) 234-4953.
