Energy Program Savings

Grand Rapids Community College has saved more than $7.2 million through its energy conservation efforts over the last seven years. GRCC launched its energy program in May of 2008. Since then, energy consumption has been reduced by 337,931 MMBTUs. That reduction translates into the equivalent of 35,228 tons of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere, or 7,339 passenger cars removed from the road, or 903,273 trees planted.

The college has reduced energy consumption by 20.8% which translates to $7,246,527 dollars in savings.
