Energy Program Savings

Grand Rapids Community College has saved more than $8 million through its energy conservation efforts over the last nine years. GRCC launched its energy program in May of 2008. Since then, energy consumption has been reduced by 386,296 MMBTUs. That reduction translates into the equivalent of 40,459 tons of carbon dioxide removed from the atmosphere, or 8,429 passenger cars removed from the road, or 1,037,421 trees planted.

The college has reduced energy consumption by 21.2% which translates to $8,060,496 dollars in savings.
