LIBRARY RESOURCES FOR FACULTY & STAFF
The Chronicle of Higher Education
Library Liaison – One of your most important resources is a librarian designated to be a special contact for you and your department. Click on "Library Staff" in the left–hand column to identify the liaison to your department. If you do not see your subject area listed, please check with Dorothy Terhune (234–3849).
Add a Librarian to your Blackboard Course – Librarians are available to participate in a discussion forum in your Blackboard course where they can assist students with research assignments. Contact: Pat Ingersoll, (234–3869). There is online assistance in Blackboard for both students and faculty members. Faculty will find instructions for adding links to copyrighted readings to their courses, as well as other useful guides.Library Instruction – Please contact Nan Schichtel (234-3082) to schedule a library instruction session for your class. A librarian can lead your class on a brief tour of the library. Students will learn to locate books, journals, and web sites. You can request research time with librarians and 30 tablet computers in our classroom.
Collection Development – Library staff members encourage and appreciate your recommendations for books and journals to be added to the the library collection. Use the web, call the Reference Desk (234-3868), or send an e–mail to any librarian with your recommendation. If we have your contact information, we'll notify you when the book arrives.
Interlibrary Loan – Interlibrary Loan extends a large array of resources to you and your students at no charge. You may generate your own interlibrary loans via MeLCat or the FirstSearch Databases, fill out one of the forms available from our web page, or contact Kathy Schoen (234–3749).
Reserves – Please contact Linda Wyskochil (234–3879) to place library resources or personal materials on reserve for your students.
Internet Resources – The library will add your web resources and recommendations to the library Internet Resources page if you desire. Please contact Pat Ingersoll, (234–3869) to learn how to add an InfoTrac saved search to your web page or to the library site. To assure full access to library resources from off-campus, you need a library record. Registration is normally automatic, but a registration form is also available.
Distance Learning – Many library resources are available online from anywhere on the Internet. Please send your access question in the online form, or call the Reference Desk (234–3868) to speak to a librarian.
Journal Current Contents/Tables of Contents – There are a variety of ways that we can help you stay current in your field, including routing of journals. Please contact Miriam Thompson (234–3865) to be included on a routing list.
Audio–Visual Scheduling – Please contact Tim Zerfas (234–3866) to schedule a tv/vcr for your classroom or send a Media Request Form. The form includes other types of A–V.
