Overview

The college has been awarded a FIPSE grant for over $406,000.00 to fund professional development for faculty. This three year grant will provide time and resources for faculty to participate in five learning circles aimed at improving student learning and retention. Informed by current research in teaching and learning while capitalizing upon the expertise of GRCC faculty, these learning circles will focus on the areas of Contextualizing the Curriculum, Instructional Technology, The Culture of Poverty, Collaborative Learning and Critical Thinking (new).

Learning Circles

Each Learning Circle will have up to eight faculty and will be facilitated by a current GRCC faculty member. The learning circle facilitators are:

  • Nancy Forrest, Contextualized Curriculum
  • Bill Faber & Ann Alexander, Instructional Technology
  • Laurie Faber, Collaborative Learning
  • Margaret Bowles, Culture of Poverty
  • Alejandro Saldivar - Critical Thinking
