GRCC offers two main options for students intending to transfer; Articulated Pre-Major Programs and General Pre-Major Programs. Both Articulated Pre-Major Programs and General Pre-Major Programs can be found in the GRCC academic catalog and are financial-aid eligible.

Articulated Pre-Major programs outline the course work for students intending to transfer to a specific four-year college or university in a particular major and satisfy the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA). These programs can easily be identified in the GRCC academic catalog by their program name. For example, a student wanting to transfer to Grand Valley State University’s Birth to Kindergarten  program would look for the following program name, Pre-Birth to Kindergarten, A.A. (Grand Valley State University). In the example, the student following this program in the GRCC academic catalog would earn an associate degree from GRCC and be prepared to transfer to GVSU to complete their Bachelor’s degree upon completing the GRCC academic program.

General Pre-Majors focus on coursework to prepare a student for transfer to a particular major at a college or university. These programs satisfy the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) and prepare a student to transfer to most four-year colleges or universities at the junior level. General Pre-Major Programs can be easily identified in the GRCC academic catalog by their program name. For example, a student wanting to pursue a degree in Business would look for the following program name, Pre-Business, A.A. (General Transfer). In the example, the student following this program in the GRCC academic catalog would earn an associate degree from GRCC and be prepared to transfer to most four-year colleges or universities as a business major.
