Credit for Study with Student Travel Organizations

GRCC does not guarantee acceptance of credits for foreign study unless it is arranged through and conducted by GRCC faculty.  Once you have chosen your program but before you commit to it, we advise you to review it with our Registrar’s office to gauge the likelihood of credits being accepted. GRCC has worked closely with two organizations whose programs usually qualify for transfer credits:

American Institute for Foreign Study

Offers study abroad programs for a semester and a full academic year in Argentina, Australia, Austria, the Czech Republic, England, France, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Russia, South Africa, and Spain.

International Studies Abroad

Provides study abroad opportunities in Spain, France, England, Australia, Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Argentina. There is also information about volunteer and internship opportunities in some countries.

Other Resources

Here are some other resources to explore. If these services are chosen, students will be responsible to arrange for an evaluation service to present their credits to GRCC for acceptance.

Transferring Credit

Students requesting transfer credit from colleges outside the United States are required to provide an official transcript along with a certified English translation of the same to GRCC.  Whether the student is travelling with a group or independently, the credits will need to be evaluated by a GRCC-approved foreign educational credential evaluation service, which will make a recommendation to the College about whether to accept the credits. These services charge a fee, which is the responsibility of the student.  When students narrow down their choice of study abroad programs but before committing to the trip, they are strongly advised to consult with the GRCC Registrar about the likelihood of transfer credits being accepted.
