Description:
As a Welder, your job may include basic duties such as cutting, brazing
and welding of various metal components to more advanced duties such as Mig and Tig
welding using aluminum and stainless steel.
Welders need to have an understanding of metallurgy, American Welding Society standards
and welding equipment maintenance.
To be most effective in the manufacturing environment today, you will need to be able
to read blueprints, perform basic shop math, read measurement tools and communicate
effectively with others using today's welding terminology.
What Skills do you need to
have prior to beginning training?
The applicant should demonstrate reading and math skills and the desire to work in a
manufacturing environment. The ability to work with others, good hand-eye coordination and
manual dexterity are also required.

How much can
you make?
Skilled entry-level starting wages currently average $10.00 to $15.00 per
hour, depending upon the company and the competency and experience of the applicant.
