DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION:
“Teaching Strategies: Promising Practices"

Tuesday, March 27, 2007 from 1:30 to 2:30 PM with a 30 minute audio conference following in Room 123 LRC (Learning Resource Center).

Teaching strategies that show promise for improving developmental student learning will be featured. These include: Peer-led Team Learning, Accelerated Learning Groups, Brain Compatible Learning, Structured Learning Assistance, and others.

An Internet discussion forum moderated by Dr. Gail Platt will run for a week following the broadcast.

Dr. Rita Smilkstein, author and international expert on brain-compatible teaching; and
David Arendale, former President of the National Association for Development Education and Assistant Professor /Outreach Advisor, Center for Research on Developmental Education and Urban Literacy, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
