After 5 p.m. and on weekends, support for basic Blackboard questions is available at the library reference desk.
Librarians encourage and appreciate GRCC student, faculty, and staff recommendations for books and journals to be added to the library collection. Send a message to your Liaison Librarian, call the Reference Desk (616-234-3868), or send an email with your recommendation. If you provide your contact information, we'll notify you when the book arrives.
Many library resources are available online and do not require physical presence on campus to access. Please send your access question to your Liaison Librarian, read about Off-Campus Library Services or contact Nan Schichtel (616-234-3082).
Librarians will provide information literacy instruction in your Blackboard course with at least two-weeks notice. To request a librarian to work in your Blackboard, fill out an Information Literacy Request Form. Liaison Librarians can also assist faculty who are new to adding links to copyrighted materials to their Blackboard courses.
Please fill out the appropriate request form to schedule information literacy / library instruction, or, to reserve space/seating for "research only" sessions:
- Information Literacy Request Form (taught by a librarian at any GRCC location or online)
- Research Only Library Space Request (library seating and/or 1st floor computer seating, but no instructional librarian assigned)
Students learn: about college-level library collections and services; how to locate books, journals, and e-resources; how to evaluate web sites, and more. See the Information Literacy Subject Guide or contact Nan Schichtel (616-234-3082) with questions.
One of the most important learning resources is a librarian designated to be a specialist for you and your department. Your department's librarian liaison handles library materials orders, copyright questions, Subject Guide curation, library accreditation reports, faculty training, and more. If you do not see your department listed, contact Nan Schichtel (616-234-3082).
Contact Library Circulation Specialist Kevin Lyons (616-234-3189) or Circulation Associate Tess Alliston (616-234-3555) to place library resources or personal materials onto course reserve for your students, or, Liaison Librarians can assist faculty who are new to adding links to copyrighted material to their Blackboard courses.
There are a variety of ways that we can help you stay current in your field, including the routing of periodicals. Contact Marcia Lee (616-234-3879) to be included on a routing list of your favorite periodical, or ask Marcia or your Liaison Librarian for assistance in setting up journal alerts.
