MACRAO Guide
The following handouts can be used as a unofficial audit for completing the MACRAO group requirements. You can complete either an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree. To print a MACRAO Guide, select from one of the following:

The Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (MACRAO) Articulation Agreement was established to improve transfer student articulation between two-year and four-year colleges and universities in Michigan. Grand Rapids Community College is a participant in this MACRAO Agreement (see participating four-year schools).
The specific requirements of the MACRAO Agreement are:
6 credits - English Composition
8 credits - Humanities (in at least two subject areas)
8 credits - Social Science (in at least two subject areas)
8 credits - Natural Science (in at least two subject areas;
must include at least one lab course)

Four-year colleges and universities which are signatories to the MACRAO agreement:
Adrian College* Lake Superior State University* Albion College Lawrence Technological University* Alma College* Madonna College* Aquinas College Michigan State University* Baker College Michigan Technological University* Central Michigan University Northern Michigan University Cleary College* Northwood University Davenport University Oakland University* Detroit College of Business Olivet College Eastern Michigan University Saginaw Valley State University Ferris State University Siena Heights University* Grand Valley State University Spring Arbor College Kettering University (GMI) Western Michigan University
* Indicates four-year colleges and universities which have attached provisions to their Agreements. Usually these can be satisfied after transferring. These provisions can be obtained from the four-year institution.
This Agreement provides that if you complete either the Associate in Arts Degree (AA) or the Associate in Science Degree (AS), or all of the MACRAO group requirements (see above) at Grand Rapids Community College and are accepted as a transfer student by one of the above schools, you will have satisfied the basic general education requirements of that school. The MACRAO Articulation Agreement does not guarantee admission into a particular college or into any particular program at that college. This Agreement applies to basic studies/general education and does not exempt the transferring student from meeting specific requirements for a particular program or program of study; i.e., education, engineering, business, social work.
Transcripts of Associate in Arts or Associate in Science Degree graduates will automatically indicate that MACRAO Agreement requirements were fulfilled. Non-graduates must request to have the MACRAO Agreement put on their official transcripts if requirements were fulfilled. Contact the Student Record's Office to complete a graduation audit or request the MACRAO be posted to your transcript.
