Six students, along with their coach, are invited to participate in a day full of mathematics and fun. Students will take part in individual and team events covering topics in Geometry and Algebra.
As always, we will have lots of prizes to raffle off and every student (and coach??) will go home with a prize! Lunch and a continental breakfast will be provided the day of the competition.

Rules and Scoring
Each school may send one or two teams consisting only of ninth and tenth graders. Each team must have at least two boys and two girls and at least two ninth graders. Each team must have its own coach (2 teams means 2 coaches). The coaches are expected to serve as proctors and assistants during the competition. There is a $60.00 registration fee per team to help defray meal and prize expenses.
A team with 5 students may still be an official entry in the competition, but will be unable to achieve maximum score in the quiz bowl relay (since they will not be able to get the 6th answer – see event information). Note that to be an official team the missing student needs to be such that s/he would have completed the team requirements of 2 girls, 2 boys, and two ninth graders (for example, if adding a ninth grade boy to your 5 team members would meet the official team requirements, then the team will be official - so 4 10th grade girls and one 9th grade boy would be acceptable since the missing student could be a 9th grade boy). If you let us know at least a week prior to the competition, we will do our best to fill out a team with less than 6 students and make it an official team. If you have extra students that would like to compete, please let us know in case there is a team that needs them.
If you would like to compete, but don't have a team together, you may submit names later. You may also change names later if you need to, but please keep the boy/girls and ninth grade restrictions in mind if you do so.
To register for this exciting event, print out and fill in the registration form and mail it with a check for $60.00 made payable to: GRCC 9-10 Math Competition (the mailing address is on registration form). The deadline for registration is March 3, 2017, and the number of teams is limited to the first 30 team applications (with check included) received at GRCC. If your school is slow in cutting checks, you may include a personal check with your registration form and if desired you may attach a note instructing us to not cash the check right away. We would then only cash the check in the event we do not receive the payment from your school before the competition. When we do receive payment, the personal check will be destroyed). If we receive your team application with check after 30 team submissions, we will contact you and ask if you would like to be placed on a waiting list.
Please include the total number of students enrolled in your school's ninth and tenth grades. Divisions are determined partially based upon school size.
After you have registered, we will send you information about the day's schedule and directions to GRCC.
If we receive notice that you will no longer be able to bring a team by Friday, March 3, 2017, we will issue a full refund. After that date, we cannot issue any refunds because food and printing orders have already been submitted.
