Dr. Yelena Wells serves on the piano faculty at Grand Rapids Community College where she teaches applied and class piano, music appreciation and music history courses. Yelena's administrative work has included coordinating the GRCC Arts Outreach preparatory kids music program and the GRCC Music Audition Workshop.

Dr. Wells was awarded the 2016 GRCC Excellence in Education Award for Adjunct Faculty and was also the recipient of League for Innovation 2016 John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award.

She received degrees from Grand Valley State University, Western Michigan University and Michigan State University.  Yelena has studied with Van Cliburn medalist Aviram Reichert, Dr. Silvia Roederer of the Verdehr Trio, Dr. Pauline Martin and George Vatchnadze. She has participated in masterclasses with internationally acclaimed pianists such as Kenneth Drake, Katia Skanavi, Frances Renzi, Dylana Jensen, Adam Aleksander, Milton Rubén Laufer, Christopher Taylor and others.

Yelena is an accomplished pianist and performs both as a solo and collaborative artist throughout West Michigan. She is an active member of MTNA, MMTA and the Piano Teachers' Forum of Grand Rapids where she currently serves as President. Yelena serves as the Technology Chair for MMTA.
