Recommendations
- Attend solo voice recitals and choral concerts
- Listen to recordings of classical singers
- Keep a voice journal
- Buy some music and begin a resource library
- Study Italian or German
- Develop a positive relationship with accompanist
- Occasionally tape your lessons
- Keep yourself healthy: eat right, sleep enough, etc.
- Consider doing a half recital in sophomore or third year of study
Policies
- Voice tuition paid directly to instructor based on payment option chosen
- Payments are to made on time and in full
- Makeup lessons are issued only if advanced notice is given to the instructor.
- Without advanced notice, no makeup given, but student still pays for that lesson.
- Teacher is required drop any student who has 3 unexcused absences
- Students who study private voice should not be in more than one ensemble outside of choir, without teachers permission
- Students who study voice should not be smoking
- Students who fail to comply with these policies may be dropped from their teachers studio.
- Teachers have the right to put a hold on grades and credits and freeze enrollment if students have any outstanding debt for lessons.

Practice
All students studying voice are expected to practice daily. For singers practice time consists of practicing voice lesson instruction on breathing, bodywork, vocalizing, learning notes, learning text, translating, memorizing, listening to recordings of your songs and working with an accompanist.
Voice students are expected to practice 1 to 2 hours daily on voice lesson instruction and songs.
