GRCC Student E-Mail now powered by Google

August 31, 2007 - Students will have a powerful new communication tool to start the new semester!

GRCC now uses Google GMail for student e-mail services! This change gives students: 2 gigs of space, spam filtering, the ability to send and receive larger attachments, and calendaring functions - all the while still using the student@email.grcc.edu address!

This change is effective on Friday, August 31st. If you have already communicated with your students via e-mail, here are a couple of things you should know:

  1. E-mail you sent to students prior to 5:00 PM on Thursday will be in the "old" system
  2. E-mail you sent after 5:00 PM on Thursday will be sent to the new Gmail system
  3. There is a link for students to access the old system from the e-mail log-in page so they can retrieve messages and information.

NOTE: If you sent an important message to your students, you might want to send the message again, so it exists in both systems; or, you could send a second message welcoming them to GMail, and remind them to get the important information from their old account.

Front line service areas like the Enrollment Center, Library, Computer labs and Student Technology Help Desk are all prepared to support this change. Additional help and information is available at www.grcc.edu/gmailhelp
