Grand Rapids Community College has established a Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter, a move that will give their students the opportunity to develop solid business skills through state and national competitions, and give them access to scholarships.
BPA is a leading student organization for students who are interested in pursuing a career in marketing, management, financial services, video production, technology, or office administration. Various BPA-specific transfer scholarships, among other national scholarships, are available to GRCC members.
BPA revolves around state and national competitions. Members get to choose which competitions interest them from 72 different options and are then supplied with free competition coaching and guidance, including competition preparation. The state competition for Michigan will be held in Grand Rapids March 22 -25, 2012.
GRCC’s BPA Advisor Peg Schoenborn, a Business Department instructor, said, “Our students will have a chance to compete against students from other colleges on a national level and gain recognition for mastery of various business and technology skill sets. Members also have many travel and community service opportunities with BPA.”
The Michigan BPA has been in existence for 40 years. Post -secondary Level BPA chapters currently exist in 17 states. Michigan Post Secondary Chapters include:
