Welding: A "Unique Opportunity" Shaped Around Students' Interests - President of American Welding Society to speak at GRCC MTEC Wednesday

John Mendoza, President of the American Welding Society is making Grand Rapids Community College a stop on his tour of welding programs throughout Michigan. His mission is to share with students the possibilities for careers in the welding field.

Mendoza will speak with GRCC welding students, and some invited students from area schools, September 7 at 10:15 AM at GRCC’s Leslie E. Tassell M-TEC.

According to the AWS website, “There is almost no limit to what welding can do, especially since developments in the technology continually improve its accuracy, quality and versatility.” Mendoza’s presentation will focus on this, the role AWS Certification plays and highlight the global impact that AWS certification programs have had on industry during the last 35 years and the positive effects that an AWS certification can have on student career choices.

Grand Rapids Community College, established in 1914, offers opportunities for over 30,000 students annually in degree courses, certification and training programs, workshops and personal enrichment classes. GRCC holds classes on the downtown Grand Rapids campus as well as several additional locations throughout Kent and Ottawa counties.
