GRAND RAPIDS AREA HIGHER EDUCATION NETWORK
WILL HONOR ADULT LEARNERS
FROM 11 AREA COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES
FOR THEIR EXCELLENCE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

April 7, 2009 – Grand Rapids, MI - The Grand Rapids Area Higher Education Network (GRAHEN) will honor one deserving adult learner from each of 11 area academic institutions with a Certificate of Achievement and cash award at an awards ceremony on April 15, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Applied Technology Center on the GRCC campus in downtown Grand Rapids.

This important event recognizes and honors the academic achievements and community contributions of local adult students - individuals who are exceptional inside the classroom and out and have demonstrated the ability to successfully juggle career, school, family and community.

GRAHEN is a consortium of area colleges/universities whose representatives work together to create an awareness of life-long learning opportunities throughout the year and to promote the importance of higher education in our community.

Each year, the consortium’s big event is this Outstanding Adult Learner (OAL) Award Ceremony. GRAHEN has been celebrating the achievements and accomplishments of adult learners for the past ten years.
