GRCC PROFESSOR, ALUMNUS PUBLISHES HISTORY TEXT
Examination of the Anglo-American Special Relationship, 1950-1976
February 6, 2009 - GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Dr. Robert M. Hendershot, Assistant Professor of History at Grand Rapids Community College, has recently published his first book: Family Spats: Perception, Illusion, and Sentimentality in the Anglo-American Special Relationship, 1950-1976. This work, published by VDM Verlag Press, examines the history of U.S. and British foreign policies, particularly during the 1956 Suez Crisis and the Vietnam War.
Hendershot, now in his second year at GRCC, teaches several different classes, including World History to 1500, World History since 1500, and Twentieth Century World. He also teaches Irish History and several additional courses associated with the GRCC Irish Foreign Studies Program, which allows students to study at many historic sites in Ireland for three weeks during the summer semester.
Hendershot earned his Ph.D. in the joint program administered by the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland and Central Michigan University. He is an alumnus of GRCC.

Grand Rapids Community College, established in 1914, offers both liberal arts and workforce development degrees, classes and workshops. Student enrollment on the urban campus for both credit and non-credit courses is approximately 26,000 this year.
