Inclement Weather Policy

Grand Rapids Community College rarely closes because of winter weather conditions.  If and when the College does close, the College will do its best to notify students, faculty, and staff of such closings.

INCLEMENT WEATHER MESSAGES:

Kent County - All

The message “GRCC Kent County – Closed – DAY & EVENING Classes” means cancellation of all GRCC day and evening classes and activities at its downtown campus, Tassell M-TEC, and Kent County regional sites (i.e. Byron Center).

Kent County – Regional Sites

The message “GRCC at Byron Center – Day Time Classes Cancelled” or "GRCC at Byron Center - Evening Classes Cancelled" means Byron Center Public Schools has decided to cancel all of their daytime or evening activities and GRCC will not hold its classes.  This determination is normally made about 6:00 a.m. for daytime classes and about 3:00 p.m. for evening classes.

On the other hand, if Byron Center Public Schools has cancelled daytime operations, but GRCC can still hold its courses, then GRCC will hold its courses at the high school.

If Byron Center Public Schools has cancelled evening activities, but GRCC can still hold its courses, then GRCC will hold its courses at the high school.
