“Fundamentals of Service-Learning” Online Course
This course is a 9-week seminar designed to introduce faculty to the fundamentals of service-learning and how to integrate service-learning into courses. The course is open to adjunct and full-time faculty. Interested faculty may contact the instructor, Mursalata Muhammad, at ASLLiaison@grcc.edu.
ASLC Offers AmeriCorps Scholarships
Students in the AmeriCorps program receive a $1000 scholarship after providing 300 hours of service toward a community need. Students have seven years to use the money for educational purposes. Goals of the AmeriCorps programs are to help students continue their education and become active citizens who engage their community’s needs by providing viable solutions. Students may apply for an AmeriCorps position by contacting ASLC Community Liaison Mike Schavey at mschavey@grcc.edu.
ASLC Seeks Advisory Council Members
The ASLC is seeking faculty, staff, student, and community volunteers willing to serve on its first advisory council. This group will help to shape strategic direction and policy for service-learning and broader civic engagement on the GRCC campus. Anyone interested in helping to shape the direction of service at GRCC is invited to contact Wayne Sneath, director of the ASLC, at x4168 or wsneath@grcc.edu for more information.
