Welcome to Grand Rapids Community College! We are excited that you have chosen to attend GRCC and we look forward to having you on campus. Your first step to success is completing a mandatory new student orientation. Please select the option below that most represents your educational background and review the next steps required to complete your orientation requirement:

 

 

I am a high school graduate with a GPA of 3.0 or higher:

1.  Send your most up-to-date ACT or SAT scores and high school transcripts to Grand Rapids Community College

  • Send via email - enroll@grcc.edu

  • Fax - 616.234.3200

2.  Complete placement tests

  • ALEKS is the math placement test and is required for all students who plan to enroll in a math course
  • Take the Accuplacer if your SAT score in reading or writing is 24.5 or below

3.  You may fulfill your orientation requirement by completing the online orientation or attending an in-person orientation session.

  • To proceed with online orientation, log into your Blackboard account and click "New Student Orientation"
  • To sign up for an in-person orientation session, visit grcc.edu/newstudent

 

I am a high school graduate with a GPA below 3.0:

  • If your GPA is below a 2.0, you must take both parts of the Accuplacer

I am a student with a GED:

2.  Complete placement tests

I am transferring to GRCC with 12 or more completed college credits:

1.  Send college transcripts to Grand Rapids Community College. We will accept unofficial transcripts for admission purposes, but official transcripts will be required for transfer credit.

2.  You are not required to complete orientation, however, you are welcome to attend an in-person orientation or complete the online orientation if you choose.

I am a guest student just taking a few classes and transferring the credits back to my home institution:

  • You are not required to complete orientation. You should consult with your home college or university about which courses they will accept from Grand Rapids Community College
  • If you plan to enroll in online or hybrid courses, you must complete the Distance Learning Orientation through your Blackboard prior to enrolling.

I am dual-enrolling at GRCC while I am in high school

  • Dual enrollment students are students that are enrolled in high school and college courses simultaneously. The orientation session dates and times listed above are intended for degree seeking students only. Dual enrollment students should complete the online orientation and connect with the Academic Outreach Office at 616.234.3007 with any questions or concerns.
