What to Expect From Us
At your orientation session, we will cover key items needed as an incoming GRCC student. We will:
- Help you register for your classes based on your academic advisor's recommendations
- Teach you how financial aid works
- Share important resources including tutoring and scholarships
- Teach you how to use Canvas to find syllabi, assignments, textbooks and more
- Explain how to get your student ID (RaiderCard)
Orientation sessions last about four hours.
What We Need From You
- We must have English placement scores at least one week prior to your session. We will accept SAT scores, English placement scores, or college transcripts with at least 12 college credits. Please note: If we do not receive these scores on time, we will have to cancel your session.
- Please bring a photo ID with you to your orientation session.
- Watch for email confirmations and reminders with other important information.

Reschedule or Cancel:
If you need to reschedule a session, simply register again for a new session.
- We will use your last registration as the session you plan on attending. Previous registrations will be canceled.
- Please watch your confirmation to make sure the date/time is the session you picked.
- If you need to cancel your session altogether, please call (616) 234-3446.
Parking
You will be given a parking pass to park free on campus the day of your session.

Personal Interest or Guest Students
Personal interest or guest students should complete the Non-Degree Seeking Orientation course in Canvas.
Transfer Students
If you have at least 12 earned credits and above a 2.0 GPA at another college or university, we recommend that you complete the Transfer Student Orientation course in Canvas.
