Men's Tennis
The GRCC Men's Tennis begins it's fall practices Monday September 10, 2007 at ML King Park. Final roster will be determined in January. In order to practice with the team, players must have a current physical with the GRCC affiliated doctor and have health insurance. Pat Snyder returns to lead a new group of players for the 2007-08 season, Snyder became the first player under Coach Bill Goodspeed's coaching tenure to finish the season with a combined winning record in singles and doubles. With a schedule that includes Aquinas, Calvin and Grand Valley State, that's no small accomplishment. He teamed with Chris Levay at #1 doubles and played the majority of his singles at the #3 position behind Levay and Javier Sanchez. Also returning are Kyle Vyncke and Andrew Smith who both contributed in GRCC's lineup last year. Incoming freshmen with strong high school careers are Jeff Karasinski, Tyler Muller and Zack Chapin. All three players garnered all-conference honors this past season. Others expecting to compete for high positions are Marcelo Souza from Brazil and Bren Nelson. 9-10 players will make the squad in January, when the official tryouts begin. We have close to 12 players entering the fall season with the possibility of a couple transfers next semester.
