It is the mission of The Bob and Aleicia Woodrick Center for Equity and Inclusion to embrace and promote the celebration and respect of human differences. We do this through programs and activities which support social justice and equity among all people, and our campus and college president have firmly committed to this vision at a national level as well.

The center serves as a resource to the college and its community. We collaborate with faculty, students and staff to provide activities to support inclusion and encourage respect for differences. Additionally, we provide learning opportunities and cultural competency training to all of our constituents.

We offer a comprehensive, integrated, cross-cultural approach to diversity inclusion, which includes:

  • Educational Programs
  • Recognition & Scholarships
  • Women’s Initiatives & Partnerships
  • Community Partnerships
  • Inclusion Services

Thousands of faculty, staff, students and community members benefit annually from our wide selection of diversity-driven programs, many of which receive support through efforts of community collaboration and partnerships.

A Letter from President Dr. Steven C. Ender

We are GRCC! ¡Somos GRCC! Chúng Tôi Là GRCC! Sisi ni GRCC!

Dear GRCC Community:

One of the many great things about learning and working at Grand Rapids Community College is that each of us brings a unique perspective to the table. Explore our values. In them, our commitment to diversity, integrity, respect and responsiveness is clear. We value all individuals. There has been much turmoil in the world that has rocked many of us to our core – leaving members of our community feeling a host of emotions from angry, to confused, to sad, to scared, or even tired.

Let me be clear in saying that at GRCC actions speak louder than words. Our values are more than just words on paper. They are the core of who we are and what we do. We recognize the value and dignity of each person who learns at, works at or visits this college. It is the rule, not the exception, that we treat everyone with civility, taking personal responsibility for our actions and words. We strive to foster inclusion not only on our campus, but in the greater West Michigan community. We also are engaging at the national level by signing a statement in support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and undocumented immigrant students.

Know that regardless of age, race, religion, marital status, sex/gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, height, weight, national origin, disability, political affiliation, familial status, veteran status or genetics, we will create an inclusive, safe and nurturing learning and working environment that provides you with equal educational and employment opportunities.

While we cannot control external events or factors, we can welcome everyone to our campus and support them toward success. As we continue to navigate challenging times, know that you are welcome and valued at GRCC.

We are GRCC! ¡Somos GRCC! Chúng Tôi Là GRCC! Sisi ni GRCC!
