Tobacco Free | Consequences of Non-Compliance
The next phase of enforcement will begin on September 14, 2009, when GRCC Police Officers (or designated officials at other campus locations) will begin ticketing those found to be using tobacco.
(Students will be addressed by the Associate Director of Student Conduct and staff issues will be addressed by the Director of Labor Relations. Visitor names will be kept on file.)
1st ticket: A warning letter will be sent by the appropriate office.
2nd ticket: Meeting with the appropriate office. Cessation support information will be provided.
3rd ticket: Meeting with the appropriate office.
Students: Will receive an educational/wellness centered sanction and will be fined $15.
Staff: Will receive a 1st formal written warning.4th ticket: Meeting with the appropriate office.
Students: Will be placed on conduct probation for one year and be fined $30.
Staff: Will receive a 2nd written warning.5th ticket: Meeting with the appropriate office.
Students: Will be suspended for 1 semester (timing determined exactly based on when in the semester the infraction occurs.) Will be required to meet with the Associate Director of Student Conduct before being allowed to return.
Staff: Will receive a Corrective Action notice that will include suspension and last chance warning that one more ticket will result in termination of employment.6th ticket: Meeting with the appropriate office.
Staff: Termination of employment.
