Where can I smoke? Can I go off-campus?

If you choose to go off-campus, please note many of the adjacent establishments may also be tobacco free (such as Spectrum Health Campus, St. Marks Church and Fountain Street Church.) As such, students and staff must honor these tobacco free establishments as well.

How is this policy enforced?

Grand Rapids Community College Police Officers will be ticketing students and employees found in non-compliance with this policy (starting September 14, 2009.) Names of students ticketed will be forwarded to the Student Code of Conduct. Names of employees will be forwarded to Human Resources. Consequences of non-compliance can be found here.

Does this mean chewing tobacco is prohibited?

Yes, the policy covers all forms of tobacco.
