Michigan Coalition for Advanced Manufacturing (MCAM)

Through the Michigan Coalition for Advanced Manufacturing grant, eight Michigan community colleges worked together to build capacity to meet the needs of manufacturing employers for today and their future workforce.*

Our goal was to expand the workforce pipeline with employer-driven student recruitment into manufacturing.

Four Main Curriculum Areas

  • Welding
  • Machinist – CNC
  • Multi-Skilled Technician (Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance)
  • Manufacturing Production & Assembly

MCAM provided

  • In-take assessments (National Career Readiness Certificate, ACT Talent & Fit Assessment)
  • Student career plan development
  • Expanded career coaching
  • Expanded career preparation courses (resumes, interviews, on-line applications).
  • Build placement activities at colleges.

 

The grant is funded through the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant - U.S. Department of Labor and runs through September of 2016.
